Back To the DVD
Wowie wow-wow WOW! I rented the Back to The Future DVD yesterday night, and I am in total awe. They look saw awesome on our big screen, in clear detail, I am just blown away. Now for breakfast (at 1 in the afternoon the concept of breakfast is simultaneously ironically stupid and entertaining).

Randomness
Whenever I don't have anything to do (i.e. work or school) like right now I tend to forget what day it is: last week I found out that my mental clock was off two whole days from what it actually should have been. This absent-mindedness is only made worse by the fact that I don't celebrate Christmas which would have probably kept me counting the days correctly. At any rate I had a very merry and Jewish Christmas: I saw Lord of the Rings on Christmas eve, and On Christmas Day we went out with all these other Jewish families to Chinese food ( Could I be any more Jewish? I Think Not! ) It was nice talking with other college age people while eating won ton soup and egg rolls, but Eric and I skipped out a little early to see Adaptation which was just as good, if not better than Being John Malkovich. Both Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze absolutely rock and Nick Cage and Meryl Streep turned in some pretty admirable performances.

Ben Kweller and Friday Morning Pancakes
BK, one of my favorite artists, is playing in Portland in Februrary and I am indeed very excited. Also I'm going over to Jess' house for some homemade pancakes as a good bye before I drive home to SF tomorrow. More on that later, I must get dressed. I need to speak to Dahvi before i go, her presents were so incredibly insightful and cool.

Went to target today with Jess, we walked around and oogled kitchen appliances (who knew that toasters could be so sexy?) and just about everything else. Ahhhh, I love target with all my heart and soul. Jess bought a set of bamboo steamers for making Chinese food and steamed rice. Sweet, sweet capitalism.

Bread and Booze
I am done, my life is freed from the constrains of my research thesis on "School Vouchers." last night I had shabbat with the Friday night gang and we celebrated the final night of Hannukah with a carbo and starch-loaded meal (Dr. Atkins, eat your heart out.) The entree was latkes that Becca fried up with a delicious salad that Jess made ( I had to force here to use something other than romaine: she finally bought some red-leaf lettuce on my insistence) and I baked two loaves of homemade challah one sesame, and one chocolate swirl which ended up not being so chocolatey. This was my first time baking bread (I've baked just about every cake there is, but I've never made even so much as a roll from scratch) and it was decidedly easy. I was a little apprehensive about not having a kitchenaide mixer to do my kneading (yes I am a snob), but I found that the kneading was not only simple but somehow satisfying, I felt like I was putting something more into the dough. Brett has yet to make anything but I think next week we're going to try and convince him to make a salad. I know he can't cook, but EVERYONE can make a salad!
Tonight I am going to this party at Maria's house, a girl who I don't even know. There is definitely some sexual tension between us so we'll see where that goes.
