Lost In Translation: Kat I Love You enternally

Ex-Eugenian and Voicee Kat is currently living in Japan. She's been gone the whole year, if you havent gotten the chance check out her blog. This sign is priceless. It beats Israel's "Scarrified Pavement" signs by far.

TV News Makes me Want to Vomit
Today I did an interview for the paper on this UO student who had recieved an award for her work in creating a system that uses eye-tracking software to allow disabled kids to draw pictures with smooth even images. She was a dream interview - intelligent, humorous, patient - however, I was sharing my time with some TV News crew and their ethics made me seriously ill. The reporter, a seasoned tv pro (this was no college freshman), had the most horrific bedside manner. His questions were mostly fluff without a lot of substance and he completely ignored the student's partner who developed the program with her. He was also completely ignorant of all the background information that had been supplied and was obviously not prepared. What little respect I had for television news has dropped to nil. And that's the news, so now you know ...
Make me famous
I want to do a google-bombing experiment. Link my website on your pages if you have them - will you do it if I tell you I love you? Remember baby, you're the only one for me.
The Dub-C Shout Out
Saw Laurie Kilmartin on Tough Crowd with Colin Quin on Comedy Central and was for the most part unamused by her whole shtick - until - she opened up a can of whoop-ass on Walnut Creek for being completely white bread and not preparing her with the proper insults for her current Harlem locales. It was inspired, but she was totally hateful. It was great.

I have worked hard this term then ever in my life with an average of 3-4 articles per week for the paper, a full courseload, and work at the bookstore two days a week. My editor at the paper is dancing tomorrow night at Africa Night, she's originally from Kenya (HOLY SHIT cool, eh?) so I'm looking forward to that, but a bout of the flu/allergies is making me have this dry cough and scratch throat. I gargled with saltwater and that worked for a while - now, however - I am salty and still feel like crap. God I bitch a lot. Sorry.

John Kerry, Livejournal Fan?
Okay, no, he's not on livejournal but Kerry does have a blog but unforunately it reads like a foreign policy academic journal. This is not what the people want John! Let me show you, for example your blog should read like this:

4/12/2004 KetchupLuvr

Went into Washington today, I had lunch with Teddy at some beat-up old bar he loves. Whatever. We were ordering lunch and Teddy was talking about doing some avant-garde perfomance art or something on the steps of the capital when in walks Dick-mother-fucking-Cheney. Teddy turnned green (he's pissed since Patrick told him that the Cheneyster stole the white-board off of his senate office door) and I almost spit my water all over him.

Ok I love Kerry, or pretty much anyone who can beat Bush, but the guys should lighten up. He's gonna kick GW's butt anyways since Iraq has gone down the tubes. Ok i have real work to do.

Sha Sha
New Ben Kweller album dropped, haven't gotten it yet but i'm looking forward to it. It was so nice in Eugene this weekend (easily in the 70's or 80's) and I was happy for a time. Now its monday and its cloudy and my ego is feeling less then stellar. In other news, the job at the paper is going well, stressful, but worth it and my brother has returned from Cleveland with a Case-Western sweatshirt in tow, so he'll probably be going there next year. I'm not sure how to react to this news - on the one hand I'm very proud of him, he rocks for getting himself into the school. On the other hand - I'm pretty bummed because he's that much farther away, I already miss seeing him big time and it is just exacerbated with him being in the the Midwest and me being in the PacNorthwest.

Econ Mornings
I'm taking econ again (right at this moment actually), trying to get it out of the way for my major requirement, and it still makes me completely sick to my stomach. The disolution of independent human beings into simple consumption machines is quite gross. Despite the fact that I love this prof enough to take this class at 8am, he still makes me want to vomit when he says things like "when it comes down to it unemployment isn't such a bad thing, it's quite usual for the economy." It makes me want to jump out of my seat and slap him and say "Dammit Tim! It's ok to have emotions, not everything can be best explained statistically or from the standpoint of what's good for businesses!" sigh
