TV News Makes me Want to Vomit
Today I did an interview for the paper on this UO student who had recieved an award for her work in creating a system that uses eye-tracking software to allow disabled kids to draw pictures with smooth even images. She was a dream interview - intelligent, humorous, patient - however, I was sharing my time with some TV News crew and their ethics made me seriously ill. The reporter, a seasoned tv pro (this was no college freshman), had the most horrific bedside manner. His questions were mostly fluff without a lot of substance and he completely ignored the student's partner who developed the program with her. He was also completely ignorant of all the background information that had been supplied and was obviously not prepared. What little respect I had for television news has dropped to nil.
