Kissing the Lipless (Or Goings On About Town....)
So I was reading an article about Sony's attempt to beat Apple to the iPod market (ahem, Sony, WTF? Where have you been dudes) and the Sony music story which the article essentially claimed to be even worse then iTunes. Additionally, Sony is charging $1 per song which is fine but the company is charging $2 for any song over seven minutes . This makes no sense (and the article noted the absurd nature of such a blatantly greedy move) but the song they used as an example was Billy Joel's "Scenes From an Italian Restraunt" which gave me this incredible urge to hear it again. So I downloaded it and was reminded of why Billy Joel is the pimp-master. He tells an entire post-high school-catching up story in this one pop song, which is essentially three songs bookended by two shorter intros. It's like a pop opera.
The title of this blog entry has nothing to do with anything, I was listening to The Shins. But I do have a good story about absolute mortification. I was at Diana's birthday talking with Jess and her friend. He mentions his band was playing in Seattle with Ben Kweller. It goes a little something like this:
Jared (Jess's Friend): So we were playing with Ben Kweller.
Steven (Rudely Interrupting): Oh man Jess, that reminds me. There was this band called The Carolines playing the EMU, you have to hear them, it's totally music you would like.
Jess (looking annoyed): What?! Are you kidding me.
Steven looks confused
Jess: Jared is the drummer for The Carolines.
Steven wants to die
